Below is a case study of one of our medium sized organisations and recent work we have successfully completed on time and within the business requirements of the client:
Ischebeck Titan Ltd commissioned Dove Computer Solutions to recommend solutions to several key IT issues that have been identified over a period of time
Network / Internet Performance issues
Email functionality
VPN (Virtual Private Network) issues between Burton office, remote sales users and satellite offices (i.e. Oldham, Ebbw Vale and Dubai).
Anti-virus and Anti-Spam Security issues
IT Support and maintenance of Burton Office, branch offices and remote sales and home workers.
At the time of undertaking the project, they had 4 old servers and one new server. POP3 email access, no security, no spam or virus filtering service and no IT policy on backup, support and security.
Within a project timeframe of 3 months, Dove Computer Solutions completed the following:
1. Added a new Microsoft Windows 2003 Server domain controller to the existing IT infrastructure.
2. Backed up Evesham Server data
3. Migrated all data and user accounts from Evesham w2k server to new w2k3 DC server.
4. Backed up Sage Accounts / Batch Controller and Payroll on existing Dell PE2600 w2k advanced server.
5. Rebuilt and upgraded Dell PE2600 server to Microsoft Windows 2003 Server R2, plus installed Exchange 2003, plus restored Sage.
6. Moved emails from POP3 to Exchange 2003 functionality.
7. Added MessageLabs anti-virus/anti-spam service to SMTP service.
8. Setup SDSL lines at Burton and Oldham offices to improve broadband connectivity and reduce cost from old 128k leased line.
9. Transferred Oldham office from dedicated line to secure VPN server to server networking.
10. Promoted existing Oldham server to DC in the existing domain and created a new site within the existing domain.
11. Cancelled dedicated line between Oldham and Burton.
12. Rebuilt Evesham server to be used as w2k member server for print server and terminal server applications.
13. Turned off and removed the Windows NT4 SBS server from network.
14. Setup Ebbw Vale and Dubai remote offices with new network setup.
15. Setup Laptops with new IT configuration, VPN access, Antivirus installation and Email Outlook transfer of POP3 to SMTP system.
16. Migrated all users from Symantec to McAfee Total Protection.
17. Setup all remote sales reps with improved security and VPN remote access service.
18. Added Cambridge branch office to Burton head office via Site to Site connectivity.
19. Added and setup new Terminal Server (Windows 2003 Server R2) to allow remote users in Dubai, Cambridge, home workers and Ebbw Vale to access Sage, emails and office files.
20. Added and setup new Microsoft SQL 2000 server on Windows 2003 Server R2 to allow SQL database access to the client's new accounting package for over 35 users.
During this major project, Dove Computer Solutions maintained a first class support service for all our clients (including the clients listed above) using the latest VOIP telephony system, best in class remote access software, highly trained onsite PC Engineers and ITIL helpdesk customer service using an online helpdesk logging system.
